SGMD is a system of programs for the generation, manipulation, anddisplay of surface-oriented data.The key features of SGMD include the following:Grid Hierarchy Data Base System for compact storage and efficientmanipulation.Minimum curvature grid generation from sequential x, y, z data, EDCON'sLine Oriented Data Base System, and existing gridded data sets.Interactive display and editing: display rendering of the grid set as acolor coded map, contour map, shaded relief map, or perspective view,combinations of these options can be selected for increased visualperception, grid Masking by application of polygon set, paint brushediting, or external mask grids; windowing with grid, projection x/y, orLatitude/Longitude limits; profile selection and display using enteredprofile coordinates or interactively selected points; regionalcomputation and display using polynomial surface fit; survey locationdisplay from sequential data sets or EDCON's Line Oriented Data BaseSystem.Interactive mathematical operations between grids: manipulation andcombination of multiple grids using a simple algebraic language. Thelanguage includes numeric operators, logical operators, trigonometricfunction, log/antilog functions, and exponentiation.
